Seasonal Senior Camp Counselor - Bays Mountain Park (Temporary/Seasonal)

The City of Kingsport is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic individuals to join our seasonal camp team as Camp Counselors / Senior Counselors. This role is ideal for students pursuing careers in education, environmental science, natural history, or related fields who want hands-on experience leading youth programs in a dynamic park setting.Camp Counselors play a vital role in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where children can explore nature, learn through play, and build lifelong memories.The applicant is required to have full availability from May 27th to July 31st.Scope of DutiesSupervise and engage groups of campers in daily educational, recreational, and outdoor activities.Assist with planning and leading camp programs focused on nature, science, and environmental education.Maintain a safe and positive environment by enforcing camp rules and behavior expectations.Communicate effectively with campers, parents/guardians, staff, and the general public.Support camp operations, including set-up, clean-up, and activity transitions.Serve as a positive role model and mentor for campers and junior staff.Follow all City of Kingsport policies, safety procedures, and program guidelines.Senior Counselor QualificationsEducation: High school graduate; candidates currently pursuing a bachelor's degree at a college or university preferred.Field of Study: Major coursework in natural history, education, environmental science, recreation, or a related field preferred.Demonstrated ability to relate well to children and youth in group settings.Comfort with public speaking and communicating in both public and private settings.Strong verbal and written communication skills.After a reasonable period of orientation, the candidate must be able to: a. Present programs; b. Lead two Junior Counselors; c.
