Work is performed under general direction with much independence and is reviewed upon completion for conformity with established standards.Duties & Responsibilities Applies asphalt roofing, sets flashing and expansion joints, cuts roofing paper other roofing materials to fit roof corners, pipes, etc.Uses asphalt and commercial compounds on overlapping joints; applies and fastens roofing materialsInspects and determines leaks on all types of roofsLifts objects and works at elevation on a routine basisAssist in the planning and setup of project safety requirementsEnsure the proper use of tools and safety equipment at all timesApplies thorough knowledge of standard practices, methods, processes, materials, machines and tools of the trade, of construction and use of scaffolding, as well as occupational hazards and safety precautions of the tradePerform inventory controls for job materialsKeep work area clean and assist in making a safe working environmentCommunicate and cooperate with foremen, project managers, supervisors and coworkersPerforms related work as required or directedQualifications Ability to lift and carry heavy objects 50 poundsAble to lift, bend and cut sheet metalStoop, crouch, bending, and step over obstaclesWorking on roofs of tall buildings, sloped roofs, stadiums and general construction sitesCarrying and climbing laddersSetting up and working on scaffoldingValid driver's licenseGood, safe driving recordHigh school degree or equivalentAble to work well with others in a team environmentWorking Conditions Work indoors and outdoors in various types of temperature and weather conditionsWork in environment with dust, loud noise and/or vibrationsWorking on substantially high construction sitesPerforming work where carelessness could result in serious injuryPhysical Requirements Carry and/or lift 50 pounds or morePerform duties at elevated sitesStand, stoop, or walk for long periods of time
