All helping ensure that communities can focus on improved care for residents while still reaching their financial goals.SafelyYou is one of five most innovative fall technologies referenced in the Senate Falls Report (2019), a winner of the McKnight’s Tech Partner of the Year, and has been named to Fortune’s Impact 20 list, which recognizes companies making people’s lives better through innovation.Your Role at SafelyYouAs a Senior Embedded Software Developer, you will design and develop our next-generation IoT AI vision sensors and SafelyYou life safety devices, which are used to monitor thousands of rooms in hundreds of facilities. The devices will combine the best of AI computing solutions with a high availability stack capable of analysis and reporting on residents' health and safety throughout the day.You will partner closely with our product management team and peers to define, design, and implement mission-critical features. You may also mentor junior team members and lead your projects through the full development lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the architecture and development of small embedded devices (RTOS, bare-metal, C/C++)Integrate, develop, and/or customize embedded Linux OS components and softwareIntegrate, evaluate, and modify manufacturing partner-provided patches to the chip manufacturer’s SDKImprove reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutionsProvide technical guidance to the team through mentoring, training, and experimentationMake design decisions and provide recommendations throughout our entire IoT platform and within the teamLead by example by making quality a core aspect of the deliveryPromote the adoption of agile best practices while being an ambassador of our company valuesCommunicate passionately about the team, mission, and technologyThe Ideal Candidate7+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent in a SaaS company, preferably in a startup environmentUnderstands coding best practices: unit testing, automation, object-oriented programming, continuous integration and deployment Experience in software/firmware development and architecture for both resource-constrained micro-controllers and high-end embedded Linux devicesUnderstands how to read a chip's data sheet and a schematic, and write the related device drivers (I2C, SPI, GPIOs, MIPI and ADC are example interfaces and devices)Experience using yocto/openembedded building embedded Linux systems and applicationsExperience with system software like systemd, cryptsetup, docker, iptablesExperience with GStreamer or other video processing pipelinesExperience with SoC VPUs, ISPs or other hardware video processing pipelinesExperience with Edge AIBasic hardware knowledge relevant for embedded Linux devicesProven track record of designing and developing IoT solutions, preferably with AI/Computer vision capabilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate multi-functionally\Proactive about anticipating and addressing issues before they arise Prioritize quality over speed; When it’s done, it’s really donePassionate about our mission and our technology Why Join Us?
