Forward Deployed Engineer

About the RoleA venture-backed aerospace technology startup is seeking a highly adaptable engineer to help deploy and integrate mission-critical software and hardware systems across customer environments globally. This is a hybrid product, operations, and customer-facing engineering role where you will play a key part in ensuring successful field deployments while acting as a bridge between customers and internal engineering teams.This position is ideal for someone who enjoys operating in dynamic environments, solving complex operational problems, and working directly with end users in the field.ResponsibilitiesLead customer deployments and product integrations across operational environmentsOwn implementation and launch processes for software and hardware systemsTranslate customer feedback and operational challenges into actionable product requirementsArchitect deployment solutions tailored to each customer’s operational workflowsCollaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and external stakeholders to ensure successful rolloutsSupport ongoing system integration, troubleshooting, and optimization effortsCreate tight feedback loops between field operations and internal product teamsRequirements5+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or technical operationsStrong proficiency in Python and SQLExperience working with relational and non-relational databasesFamiliarity with hardware systems, sensors, embedded systems, or IoT technologiesStrong problem-solving ability and operational judgmentExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsComfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environmentsIdeal BackgroundAerospace, aviation, robotics, autonomy, or defense experienceExperience working directly with customers in technical deployment or implementation rolesStrong ownership mentality with the ability to lead projects independentlyComfortable operating cross-functionally between engineering, operations, and customersMilitary or veteran backgrounds are highly valued due to leadership, execution, and operational rigorAbility to remain calm under pressure and manage high-stakes deployments in the fieldNice to HaveEmbedded systems or hardware integration experienceExperience deploying products in operational or industrial environmentsStartup experienceExposure to aviation operations, airports, or airline systems
