We're backed by leading investors including Y Combinator, 1984 Ventures, Collaborative Fund, and angels from Open AI, Instacart, and Citadel Securities.We've brought together an exceptional team from Palantir, BCG, Oxford, Cambridge, and MIT to solve intellectually challenging problems and tackle food insecurity and waste with technology.We're looking for a QA Engineer to own quality and testing across our web and mobile products on an initial 3–4 month contract, with potential to extend.About the RoleAs our first dedicated QA hire, you'll shape how quality works at Guac. Your responsibilities will include:Review requirements and designs for new features, write thorough test plans, and execute them before launchOwn the regression testing process ahead of each release across our React/Next.js web app and React Native mobile appWrite clear, reproducible bug reports and drive defects through to resolutionLead the buildout of our automated end-to-end test suite, progressively replacing manual regression with reliable automationWrite and maintain API-level tests to validate backend integrationsUse AI tools to accelerate test authoring, surface edge cases, and improve coverageAbout You3+ years of QA experience on web and/or mobile applicationsStrong ability to write thorough test plans and reproducible bug reports from requirements or designsExperience with test automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Detox, Maestro, or similar) — you've built suites from scratch beforeExperience with API testing (Postman, REST Assured, or similar)Comfortable working async with minimal supervisionAvailable during core ET business hours when needed e.g. during release cycles (10am–6pm ET)(Bonus) Experience with our stack: Playwright, Jest, Maestro, React/Next.js, React Native(Bonus) Experience testing logistics, supply chain, grocery, or fulfillment software(Bonus) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI) and SQL for data validation(Bonus) Daily use of AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) to ship fasterEngagementIndependent contractor, ~20 hours/weekInitial 3–4 month contract with strong potential to extend in duration or expand in hoursRemote, flexible, with at least partial availability during core ET hoursOpen to candidates outside the USOur Tech StackWeb: React, Next.js, Playwright, JestMobile: React Native, MaestroAPI: Postman, Bruno
