Document Control Specialist – Mission Critical / Data Center Project

Generous per diem package available for candidates whose home location is more than 100 miles from New Florence, MissouriCompensation: Commensurate with experience and adjusted for project schedule, rotation, and role requirements.About the RoleAlbers Management is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Document Control Specialist to support a major mission-critical data center project. This role will sit within the Project Controls team and will be responsible for managing, tracking, organizing, and controlling project documentation across multiple project stakeholders, including the client, A/E team, project management team, construction team, subcontractors, vendors, and other project partners.The ideal candidate will understand that document control is more than filing documents. On a complex project, document control protects the flow of information, supports timely decision-making, reduces risk, and ensures the project team is working from accurate, current, and properly approved information.This position requires strong attention to detail, discipline, follow-through, and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction/project delivery environment.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain the project document control system and associated document logs.Receive, review, distribute, track, and file project documents in accordance with project procedures.Support control and tracking of drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, reports, correspondence, change documents, contracts, transmittals, and other project records.Ensure documents are properly named, coded, version-controlled, filed, and distributed to the appropriate stakeholders.Maintain current and accurate logs for key document workflows, including RFIs, submittals, drawing revisions, design packages, change records, and project correspondence.Coordinate document routing between the A/E team, project management team, client, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.Monitor document review cycles and help ensure required responses are received within the required timeframe.Identify missing, late, incomplete, or incorrectly routed documents and escalate issues to the appropriate team members.Support the Project Controls team with document-based reporting, status updates, and data accuracy.Assist with meeting preparation, document packages, action item tracking, and follow-up documentation as needed.Support audit readiness by ensuring project documentation is complete, traceable, and organized.Help maintain project records for turnover, closeout, as-builts, warranties, O&M manuals, commissioning documentation, and final project archive.Follow established project procedures and help improve document control workflows when gaps or inefficiencies are identified.Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with sensitive project, client, and contractor information.Required Qualifications3+ years of document control, project administration, project coordination, or construction administration experience.Experience working in construction, engineering, architecture, project management, or capital project environments.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage large volumes of information.High attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to track deadlines, follow up with stakeholders, and close open items.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, subcontractors, and client representatives.Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment with competing priorities.Preferred QualificationsExperience on large construction, industrial, mission-critical, data center, manufacturing, healthcare, or infrastructure projects.Experience with project management/document control platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Aconex, SharePoint, Bluebeam, Newforma, or similar systems.Familiarity with construction document workflows, including RFIs, submittals, drawings, specifications, meeting minutes, change orders, and closeout documentation.Experience supporting a Project Controls, PMO, Owner’s Representative, construction management, or engineering team.Understanding of version control, document numbering, transmittals, and controlled distribution processes.Ability to build and maintain Excel-based logs, trackers, and reporting tools.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe successful candidate will be someone who is dependable, proactive, and comfortable being the person who keeps information organized and moving.
