This position provides direct technical support for EPA drinking water data systems, including SDWIS/STATE and DW-SFTIES, ensuring data integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability.The ideal candidate will have strong database development skills, experience supporting regulatory systems, and the ability to work closely with EPA program and technical staff in an on-site federal environment.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain, enhance, and support SDWIS/STATE and DW-SFTIES applicationsDesign, develop, and maintain Oracle and relational database tablesSupport data migration, validation, and quality assurance activitiesDevelop and maintain Microsoft Access applications, including queries, forms, and reportsSupport drinking water compliance activities in accordance with 40 CFR Part 141Prepare monthly status reports, technical documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Support Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) and comply with EPA QA/QC standardsEnsure compliance with EPA cybersecurity and privacy requirementsCollaborate with EPA staff, contractors, and stakeholders to support program goalsRequired QualificationsU.S. CitizenBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)5+ years of database and/or application development experienceHands-on experience with Oracle, SQL, and Microsoft AccessExperience supporting government, environmental, or regulatory data systems preferredStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skillsAdditional RequirementsAbility to work on-site at EPA Region 8 in Denver, COAbility to successfully pass required background checksStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary teamWhy Join Us?This role offers the opportunity to directly support EPA’s mission to protect public health by ensuring the safety and reliability of drinking water data systems.
