Role OverviewIs seeking a skilled Machinist to join our Savannah, GA facility on second shift. In this role, the Machinist will independently interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and other technical data to determine tooling needs, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences. While the regular schedule is second shift (4pm-2:30am), new hires will complete 36 months of training on first shift to ensure a strong foundation for success.Key ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownershipIndependently set up and operate large CNC Lathes (110-220 ton)Machine large gas turbine components to tight dimensional and geometric tolerancesInterpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&TSelect tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies appropriate for large forgings and castingsOptimize cutting parameters to improve quality, cycle time, and tool lifePerform in-process and final inspections using precision measurement toolsTroubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues with minimal supervisionWork closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to support first-time-right buildsMaintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standardsRequirements5-7+ years of CNC machining experience in heavy industrial manufacturingStrong experience operating large lathesProven ability to machine large, tight-tolerance componentsAdvanced blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skillsExperience with alloy steels, carbon steels, stainless steels, and large forgingsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work independentlyWillingness to work second shift (4pm-2:30am) after initial training period
