SummaryThe Assistant Teacher is responsible to the assigned Lead Teacher and ultimately to the Director for providing instructional assistance in the classroom and performing such duties as may be assigned by the Lead Teacher and Director.DutiesAssist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the Lead TeacherAssist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies and maintaining health and safetyHelping with general housekeeping tasksAssist the Lead Teacher in any other appropriate waysSupervising the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the roomAlways maintaining professional attitudes and loyalty to the PreschoolTreating all children with dignity and respectParticipating in at least 25 hours of early childhood professional development each year Perform other responsibilities as directed by the Preschool management or the Lead TeacherRequirementsThe Assistant Teacher must be eighteen years of age or older. They must have a college degree, CDA and/or extended job experience in early childhood education. The person selected for this position must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to both children and adults, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school's educational philosophy, classroom procedures and curriculum guidelines. Assistant Teacher should be able to lift at least 30 pounds. Positions available include lead teacher and assistant teacher, two to five days a week. The ideal candidate must possess a passion for teaching young children in a play-based preschool setting. FPP is accredited through the Associate for Early Learning Leaders and upholds their standards while using the Creative Curriculum as guidance for lessons. Potential schedule will be Monday through Friday 8:30am - 12:30pm during the school year, with the possibility for additional hours from 8:00am - 2:00pm.
