Senior Accounting Manager (San Diego)

This is a high visibility opportunity for an accounting professional with a strong technical accounting background who is looking to transition into or continue growing within industry and take on a strategic, impactful role in a collaborative environment.The company offers exposure to complex accounting matters, executive leadership, and cross functional initiatives supporting the advancement of innovative therapies and scientific technologies.Key Responsibilities* Lead technical accounting research and prepare accounting position memos related to complex transactions under US GAAP* Provide guidance on revenue recognition, stock compensation, leases, debt arrangements, acquisitions, and other technical accounting matters* Support the preparation and review of SEC filings, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and related disclosures* Partner closely with FP&A, legal, operations, and executive leadership to evaluate accounting implications of strategic initiatives* Oversee aspects of the monthly and quarterly close process related to technical accounting and financial reporting* Drive implementation of new accounting standards and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements* Assist with strengthening internal controls, accounting policies, and scalable financial reporting processes* Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and support audit coordination* Mentor and develop junior accounting team members as the organization continues to growQualifications* Active CPA required* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field* 6+ years of accounting experience with a strong foundation in technical accounting and financial reporting* Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred, but not required* Deep understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting concepts* Experience supporting publicly traded companies and SEC reporting environments preferred* Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and evolving environmentWhy This Opportunity* Excellent opportunity for someone looking to make the transition from public accounting into industry* Broad exposure to executive leadership and strategic decision making* Opportunity to work within an innovative biotechnology company making meaningful impact* Strong career growth potential as the organization continues to scale* Collaborative and team oriented culture with high visibility and ownership
