Description:Bachelor’s degree in communications, or other technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Typically, it possesses three to five years’ experience writing manuals or procedures. Responsible for writing, cataloging, publishing and maintaining operations policy and procedures. May review publications and recommend revisions or changes in approaches, scope, format, and standards for publicationResponsible for consulting with subject matter experts and content providers to ensure common understanding of policies and proceduresDay-to-Day Responsibilities/Workload:Core ResponsibilitiesWork Method Documentation Development:Design, draft, and maintain:Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Job AidsPerformance Support NotebooksManual updates (e.g., Rubber Glove, Grounding, Rigging, Transmission Manuals)Ensure documentation is:Field-ready, practical, and usable by craft personnelAligned with current standards, policies, and safety requirementsStructured per approved WMI governance and SOP proceduresSME Engagement & Working SessionsSchedule and facilitate working sessions with SMEs, reviewers, and advisorsElicit technical input, operational insights, and field practicesCapture consensus decisions and translate them into clear documentationResearch, Analysis & Technical AccuracyResearch and consolidate policies, materials, presentations, vendor information, and SME inputValidate accuracy and completeness of deliverables prior to approvalCollaboration & Project SupportPartner with WMI Advisors, Project Leads, stakeholders, and SMEsProvide status updates and support project timelinesFollow governance, review, and approval workflows defined in WMI proceduresField Engagement & Media SupportPerform on-site visits and job walks as neededConduct basic image editing to support documentationWork with media vendors to write scripts and guide developmentMaintenance & Continuous ImprovementMaintain existing documentation in response to:Standards changeCorrective actionsSafety workstreamsNew tools, equipment, or processesRequired Skills/Attributes:Experience Level (Practical Reality)This role is not entry-level in practice.Typical requirement:5–8+ years of technical writing experience, or3–5+ years of technical writing experience plus strong utility/industrial/field-operations exposureThis expectation is driven by high safety and compliance impact, direct interaction with experienced craft SMEs, and MOC-driven timelines with audit scrutiny.Required Skills & Background:Proven experience producing technical or procedural documentationAbility to translate complex technical input into plain, field-usable languageStrong facilitation skills for SME working sessionsStrong organizational, writing, and version-control disciplineComfort collaborating across organizational unitsExperience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, photo editing software, SharePoint, OneDrive, Acrobat, Outlook, Teams, and CopilotDesired Skills/Attributes: Experience in utilities, energy, construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments (strongly preferred)Education Requirement:High School Diploma or EquivalentTekWissen® Group is an equal opportunity employer supporting workforce diversity.
