Individuals must be able to diagnose and perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks on high voltage (HV) underground transmission (UGT) facilities, including substation terminations and potheads, oil pump houses and valving, manholes, various HV splices, corrosion control systems, and associated substation equipment and controls. Additional duties include the inspection, construction, installation, modification, and diagnosis of UGT equipment at voltages up to and including 230kV, operating and blocking oil related equipment, work planning & coordination, and secondary distribution storm restoration. Position will require working extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. It is required that the individual can advance to first class journeyman level and work independently as needed in a high-performance team environment.Primary DutiesPRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESFollow all safety rules and procedures along with verbal and written directions from supervision.Proficient at circuit print, design, diagram, and map readingUnderstand and perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks on transmission-class underground equipment including troubleshootingSafely operate transmission-class underground equipment such as oil pumping stations and related valving, oil movement, alarm systems, cathodic protection systems, etc.Plan, prepare, and coordinate work using established procedures, standards, processes, and a variety of computer software, e.g., Cascade, AS8Respond to call/outs/emergencies/storm duty on a 24 x 7 basis and perform shift work and overtime as needed.Seek out and adopt new innovative technologies.PECO LOTO qualified, meets substation entry requirements and is an electrically qualified worker for transmission equipment, lines, and voltages up to 230kV.Provides oversite for contractors performing work on the transmission system.Provides inspection and/or safety watchman services of contractor/customer personnel working near transmission lines and/or equipment.Job ScopeJOB SCOPEPOSITION WILL HAVE A REPORTING LOCATION IN SOUTH PHILADELPHIA This position also requires participation in the local union and payment of union dues.
