DescriptionThe Associated Students of CSU, Chico is recruiting foranearly childhood education Teacher at the Child Development Lab. This is a full-time, academic-year (1700 hours), non-exempt position. The starting pay for new hires is $22.00 - $22.25/hr; placement in range is dependent upon experience and typically starts at the base of the range. The anticipated schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7:45am to 4:15pm and Friday 7:15am to 3:45pm with an all staff meeting Monday evenings ending at 5:15pm. The schedule is subject to change based on department needs. Establish positive reciprocal relationships with families; work collaboratively with other staff members in promoting a positive work environment; supervise and coach student staff and practicum students.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDevelop and implement evidence-based curriculum and programming in accordance with the Child Development Lab mission and goals.Function as a collaborative team-teacher providing instruction, supervision and coaching to student teachers and volunteers.Write anecdotal notes that document children's learning and development across domains.Collaboratively reflect on written observations of children and facilitate the process of planning weekly outcomes for children's development and learning.Organize a systematic approach of observation and assessment of children.Assist the Head Teacher in the supervision, training, and evaluation of student staff modeling appropriate early childhood practices and teaching techniques.Participate in professional development opportunities as assigned.Assume authority when assigned to accept licensing evaluations and implement emergency procedures in the absence of the Head Teacher and the Child Development Lab Director.Communicate Child Development Lab philosophy and program policy with families, student teachers and volunteers.Provide input and feedback concerning competencies and abilities of student teachers and practicum students.Assist in facilitating family programs, events and community outreach.Conduct daily programming.Assist in identifying and supporting children or families with special needs, providing information about community resources plan, schedule and conduct family conferences.Share information and observations regarding children's daily activities, progress, and development with families identify and report suspected child abuse and neglect to appropriate authorities.Perform a variety of assignments related to the planning, implementation, and conduct of programs.Mandated Reporter: This position is designated as a General Mandated Reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017), as a condition of employment. One year experience as a part-time teacher at the Child Development Lab (averaging 29 hours per week during the academic year) is acceptable. A bachelor degree and six months student experience working in a lab school setting at least 20 hours per week may be substituted for the (1) year professional experience.Completion of 24 ECE/CD units with core courses; PLUS 16 General Education unitsThree (3) infant/toddler units are required for a position in the infant/toddler classroomsPREFERRED REQUIREMENTSBachelor of Arts in Child Development or related field with 24 ECE/CD units with core courses, PLUS 16 general Education unitsSPECIAL REQUIREMENTSChild Development Instructional Teacher Permit, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.Three (3) infant/toddler units or ability to complete within six (6) months of hire.Department of Justice and FBI background clearance or have a successful transfer of licensing exemption and a successful licensing record.Possession of CPR and First Aid Certificates or willingness to complete upon offer of employment.Tuberculosis, MMR and Tdap clearance.Pre-employment physical.Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
