In addition to private events, Rocky Top Catering provides daily breakfast and lunch service for UNC student-athletes during the week and supports football and basketball game-day operations.Position SummaryWe are seeking dependable, detail-oriented Event Cooks to support food production and on-site execution for catered events. This role is ideal for BOH professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, event-driven environment and value hospitality, teamwork, organization, and quality food preparation.Key ResponsibilitiesKitchen Preparation & ProductionFollow prep lists accurately, efficiently, and on schedulePrepare food according to established recipes and company standardsLabel, stock, and organize ingredients to ensure accessibility and food safetyMaintain a clean and orderly kitchen, including dishwashing, sanitation, and trash removalUphold all health, safety, and food-handling standardsEvent ExecutionComplete event pack-outs for assigned events, ensuring all menu components are prepared and accounted forProperly pack ingredients and menu items to ensure safe transport and quality upon deliveryPerform on-site cooking, finishing, plating, and garnishing as requiredManage event timelines from start to finish to ensure proper execution of the client-selected menuAssist with load-in and load-out duties as neededTeam CommunicationReview each event menu with the FOH Event Manager prior to serviceWork collaboratively with FOH managers to stay on timeline, accommodate special requests, and adapt as neededTake direction professionally and contribute positively to a team-oriented work environmentQualifications & Requirements2+ years of experience as a cook or chef in a catering or high-volume kitchen environment (preferred)Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and problem-solve efficientlyEffective communication skills and the ability to work well under pressureKnowledge of current cooking techniques, best practices, and culinary trendsReliable transportation requiredCompensationCompetitive hourly pay up to $25 hourly based on experience and availabilityYearly raises based on performanceOpportunities for growth and advancement within the companyWe love to promote withinThis job description is intended to provide a general overview of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties.
