Design Manager
Position SummaryThe Interior Design Manager is a critical contributor to Morgan Properties’ asset enhancement strategy, responsible for elevating the design quality and functionality of leasing offices, amenity spaces, and common areas across our portfolio. This role directly supports organizational goals by ensuring that design initiatives align with brand standards, operational requirements, and long-term asset value.Reporting to the Vice President of Interior Design & Architecture, the Interior Design Specialist leads projects from concept through completion, applying technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and strong project management skills. The position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders - including Operations, Construction, and Asset Management - as well as external partners such as architects, contractors, and vendors to deliver design solutions that are practical, sustainable, and cost-effective.Success in this role depends on balancing creativity with business objectives, maintaining consistency across diverse property types, and ensuring that all design decisions reflect Morgan Properties’ commitment to quality, functionality, and resident experience.Essential DutiesDesign LeadershipDevelop concepts, space plans, and detailed drawings using CAD and design software.Draft construction notes to ensure design plans are accurately translated and contracted.Project OversightManage projects from concept through installation, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.Track costs and identify value engineering opportunities to maximize ROI.Internal EngagementConduct consultations, present proposals, and maintain communication throughout the project lifecycle.Material & Furniture SelectionSpecify finishes, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment; coordinate procurement as needed.Collaboration & MentorshipWork closely with architects, contractors, and internal teams.Mentor junior designers to support professional growth and maintain design standards.ComplianceEnsure designs meet building codes, accessibility standards, and sustainability goals.Third-Party Vendor ManagementSupport outsourced design services, procurement partners, and specialty contractors.Monitor deliverables for accuracy, quality, and consistency with design intent.Provide consultation and feedback to refine outputs and resolve discrepancies.Maintain strong relationships with external vendors to optimize cost, quality, and timelines.Additional Duties: Tasks or duties not outlined in this job description may be required to contribute to the organization's success and efficiency.QualificationsEducation & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field preferred.3+ years of related experience with proven project leadership and vendor management.Industry experience in multifamily, senior living, student housing, and/or hospitality preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and 2D/3D design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or Chief Architect).Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsValid driver’s license required.NCIDQ or similar credentials preferred.Please upload your portfolio when completing the application process.*The “Benefits” of EmploymentEmployee referral payment programEducational Enhancement ProgramMedical, Dental, and Vision benefitsLife/ AD&D InsurancePaid Parental LeaveLong and short term disabilityRetirement Plan - 401(k) PlanDiscount on an apartment at any one of our propertiesBrand new amenity space that includes a full gym/fitness center and golf simulatorSalary range: $70,000-$80,000/yrIf you are hired at Morgan Properties, your overall compensation package will also be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.Get To Know UsEstablished in 1985 by Mitchell Morgan, Morgan Properties is a national real estate investment and management company headquartered in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
