divh2School Nurse/h2pThe job of School Nurse is done for the purpose of overseeing the individual health needs of students; overseeing immunization compliance mandated by state law; implementing health care plans directed by physicians; ensuring district health care practices comply with the laws relating to student health issues; providing appropriate immediate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured students; serving as a health care resource to teachers, staff, and administrators; conducting mandated health screenings and identifying health problems for referral to appropriate parties for proper follow up treatment and working with population of well students to maintain health and wellness./ppstrongEssential Functions:/strong/pulliAdministers first aid, medication and specialized medical treatment/liliAssesses situations involving students safety, abuse (physical, sexual, drug) and other health related issues/liliCollaborates with parents, students, health care providers, and/or other agencies/liliConducts programs and/or activities, e.g., health screening, etc./liliDevelops and maintains health care plans, medical emergency cards, emergency care plans, records, e.g., mandated screening, chronic illness, etc./liliImplements school health care plans and emergency care plans/liliMaintains contact with parent/guardian/liliParticipates in 504 plan accommodations with staff and students when a medical issue is involved/liliParticipates in a variety of meetings, workshops and seminars, including Individual Education Plan for students with health care needs/liliParticipates in District programs designed for data recording and recording initiatives/liliPerforms home visits and/or hospital visits/liliPrepares a wide variety of written materials, e.g., quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, internal audits, etc./liliProvides staff training on a variety of health related subjects, e.g., CPR, universal precautions, disaster preparedness, child abuse, health education, etc./liliRefers clients to agencies which assist with obtaining glasses, hearing aids and medical needs/liliRefers families, students and staff to community agencies that improve quality of life and health, e.g., Kids Care, WIC, etc./liliRefers students requiring further medical attention/liliReports students with contagious diseases as mandated by local public health authorities/liliResponds to emergency situations and/or evaluates need to activate local EMS - 911/liliWorks as part of the crisis management team at individual sites/liliPerforms other related duties, as assigned/li/ulpCommunity College and/or Vocational School degree with study in job related area. Testing as required by State Board of Nursing./ppRegistered Nurse License/CPR Certificate./ppCriminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance./ppSalary: RN $47,840; BAN/BSN $50,009/p/div
