Regional Family Specialist
Job Summary: As a member of a regional team, responsible for expanding and maintaining statewide community resource networks through regional outreach, asset mapping, building relationships with organizations and businesses, and increasing family and community awareness of available supports. Duties include soliciting participation from diverse community partners; verifying resource data; hosting outreach activities; supporting families in navigating tools; providing leadership training to parents; connecting to volunteers; reporting progress; and advocating for access to resources.
We are a statewide organization hiring for four of these positions - one each for our northern, southern, eastern and western service regions as identified on our website. Candidates must live in the region where they intend to serve.
Key Areas of Accountability
Resource Development & Asset Mapping
Identifies, recruits, and supports organizations, businesses, and agencies in contributing resources to statewide asset maps
Collects, verifies, and updates community resource data to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with statewide standards.
Identifies gaps in available resources and seeks partners that expand equitable access across the region.
Family & Community Engagement
Participates in family engagement events, conferences, resource fairs, and community outreach activities to promote available support.
Provides demonstrations, presentations, and basic training to families, educators, and community groups on navigating resource tools.
Generates awareness and enthusiasm for statewide family engagement initiatives through direct outreach and partnership coordination.
Represents regional perspectives in statewide family engagement discussions and activities.
Identifies and encourages parent leaders to volunteer in supporting family engagement activities and serve in ways that impact system change.
Community Relations & Partnership Building
Builds and maintains relationships with schools, nonprofits, disability organizations, community groups, and local businesses.
Promotes participation in statewide family engagement and resource initiatives through outreach and communication.
Coordinates with regional teammates and statewide staff to elevate underserved perspectives and strengthen regional representation.
Administration
Assists in preparing and disseminating newsletters, communications, and outreach materials as assigned.
Tracks outreach activities, partner engagement, and resource development to support compliance and reporting.
Attends meetings, trainings, and workshops required for the role
Minimum Job Qualifications
Education and Licensure: High school diploma required; post-secondary degree preferred.
Work Experience: Experience desired in community outreach, family engagement, social services, partnership building, school/community leadership, or advocacy for underserved populations. Familiarity with targeted communities needing outreach is essential.
Job Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building skills; organizational ability; proficiency in digital tools and record keeping; comfort engaging diverse audiences. Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Working Conditions: Work occurs in multiple settings, including virtual and community locations. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods. Evening, weekend, and regional travel may be required. Must be able to manage stressful or time-sensitive activities.
Training Requirements: Must develop competencies related to asset-mapping, family engagement strategies, especially the Dual Capacity-Building Framework, and community outreach practices.
