Program Engagement & Marketing Coordinator

The City of Essex Junction is seeking a motivated and creative Program Engagement & Marketing Coordinator to lead marketing, outreach, and engagement efforts for the Recreation & Parks Department. This role plays a key part in increasing program participation, strengthening community connections, and supporting revenue generation through coordinated marketing, sponsorship, and engagement initiatives.This is a full-time, year-round position with some evening and weekend work required.PAY/WAGES The pay rate is between $47,640 to $58,000 annually based on experience.BENEFITS (this Is Not a Comprehensive List Of Benefits)3 weeks paid vacation to start14 paid holidays18 sick days per yearRetirement benefits include a pension plan (VMERS C) or deferred compensation plan (VMERS DC) , and the ability to contribute to a 457, Traditional IRA or ROTHGenerous health insurance benefit in which the City pays 94% of the premium for medical and the first 80% of the deductible. After that, you are only responsible for the next 20%, which is not more than $600 for single plans and no more than $1200 for all other plans for covered medical expenses100% employer paid for dental and vision100% employer paid short-term disability and life insuranceQualified Employer for Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness ProgramKEY RESPONSIBLITIES Marketing, Engagement, and Brand ManagementDevelop and implement department-wide marketing strategies to support program enrollment, events, and initiativesEstablish and maintain consistent branding across digital, print, and public-facing materialsEvaluate campaign performance and adjust strategies to improve participation and engagementDigital Communications & Public EngagementManage and update website content and structureOversee social media strategy, content creation, and community engagementCoordinate public-facing communications related to programs, events, and department initiativesProgram Support & Community OutreachCollaborate with program staff to design marketing and outreach strategies that support enrollment goalsDevelop initiatives to increase participation across programs and community eventsRepresent the department at community events and outreach opportunitiesGrant & Sponsorship DevelopmentResearch, write, and submit grant applications; coordinate internal data collectionTrack grant outcomes and ensure compliance with reporting requirementsDevelop and manage a sponsorship program to support programs and eventsBuild and maintain relationships with local businesses and community partnersTrack sponsorship revenue and performanceREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSAbility to clearly read, write, and communicate information such as policies, reports, and public-facing materialsStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teamsAbility to calculate percentages, averages, and use basic data analysis to inform decisionsProficiency with word processing, formatting, editing, spreadsheets (including filters, pivot tables, and reporting), and basic design or data-tracking toolsStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesAbility to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environmentEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, recreation, or a related field and two to three years of relevant professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience in municipal government and/or parks and recreation is preferredCERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSAmerican Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain)Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred or ability to obtain within one yearThe City of Essex Junction is an equal opportunity employer.
