Senior Pre-Construction Manager

Job SummaryWesbuilt is seeking a Senior Pre-Construction Manager to lead projects through the early phases of development and set them up for successful execution.This role is built for someone who has run projects and understands how decisions made early impact cost, schedule, and risk down the line. You will take ownership of preconstruction from initial concept through turnover to operations, working closely with clients, design teams, and internal stakeholders.You’ll be expected to bring a practical, experience-driven approach to planning, pricing, and constructability, while building confidence with clients and aligning teams before construction begins.Key ResponsibilitiesLead preconstruction efforts from concept through project handoff to operationsOversee estimate development across all design phases (conceptual through GMP)Accountable for the accuracy of budgets, quality of preconstruction deliverables, and overall readiness of projects at turnover Lead preconstruction scheduling and phasing to align design and construction timelinesReview drawings and specifications with a focus on constructability, sequencing, and riskLead coordination with design teams to guide scope, pricing, and constructability throughout the design processDrive value engineering efforts with practical, buildable solutionsPlay a key role in winning work, including participation in pursuits, client strategy, and interviewsBuild early client relationships and clearly communicate cost drivers, options, and risksLead bid strategy, subcontractor engagement, and scope alignmentDevelop and manage bid packaging strategy, including scope definition and leveling across tradesDrive alignment with Operations to ensure clean, complete project turnoverMaintain and leverage historical cost data and market trendsServe as a senior voice across Preconstruction and Operations, helping drive standards, approach, and decision-makingMentor and support junior preconstruction and estimating staffProfessional Qualifications & Experience10+ years of experience with a commercial general contractorPrior experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager requireStrong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and pricingExperience delivering complex commercial projects in NYC, including interiors and/or ground-upAbility to build trust with clients and lead high-level project and pricing discussionsDemonstrated experience in preconstruction, estimating, or cost planningStrong financial and commercial awareness, with the ability to evaluate cost, risk, and marginProficiency in Procore, estimating tools, and Microsoft Office, with the ability to leverage systems to support accurate pricing and project planningExperience transitioning from project execution into preconstruction or estimating roles strongly preferredWesbuilt Construction Managers is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to protected characteristics.
