These opportunities are structured as return-to-work positions that provide the experience,training, skills, and mentoring an individual need to return to the workforce.Return Utah is a 16-week program for people who have taken a career break for at least one years or more forreasons such as starting or raising a family, caring for a family member, chronic illness, enhanced education,other personal/career related needs, etc. Those serving, separated, or retired from military service and theirspouses and/or partners are not required to meet the two-year requirement. A career break of any length makesthem eligible to participate in the program.This is a temporary (benefitted), full-time position for potential Return Utah candidates.To Be Eligible For This Return-to-work Opportunity, Candidates Must Be on a career break of one or more years at time of application unless currently serving, recently separated,retired from military service, or supporting a military spouse/partner. This person will play an integral role in Division's mission to answer taxpayer inquires. You must be current on your state and federal tax filings and pass a FBI level background check.Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:Attend special events and collect sales tax at eventsAnswer phones and provide information to customers Update excel worksheetsResearch and respond to taxpayer inquiriesAccept payments over the phone and in personExplain and apply policies and procedures to taxpayersWorks well both in the office and from homeAble to manage time efficiently QualificationsMinimum or "day-one" qualifications: Flexible schedule - includes occasional Saturdays and Sundays.Preferred Or Trainable/on-the-job QualificationsCan handle being on the phone for a majority of the workday in a contact call center.Has exceptional customer service skills. Has the ability to explain tax laws in a clear and concise way.Has the ability to work in an adverse environment dealing with upset people over the phone.Remote ScheduleThis position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. You must be able to work in office two days per workweek and be able to events in and around the Salt Lake area.PreferencesPreference may be given to those with experience working in a call center environment. Preference may also be given to those who speak Spanish.SalaryNon-state employees are hired for this position only at entry level, $20.79 an hour. Current state employees are subject to DHRM rules on transfers or promotions.
