Sewing Machine Operator - Material Handler

We are seeking a skilled individual to join our team as a Sewing Machine Operator and Material Handler. You will play a vital role in the production of web slings and cargo tie-down systems. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm, offering a pay rate between $17 and $18 per hour. Your primary focus involves utilizing industrial sewing equipment to assemble nylon straps into finished slings and cargo securement products, including the attachment of hardware. Maintaining high standards of construction is essential to your success in this role. Core Responsibilities Utilize industrial sewing machines to stitch nylon webbing and integrate hardware components into the final product. Guide materials precisely under the needle to ensure every stitch is accurate, strong, and consistent. Monitor the quality of both in-process and completed goods to identify and rectify issues like skipped seams or misalignments, helping to ensure only top-tier products reach our customers. Examine production orders to verify the correct materials and assembly methods are utilized for each project. Help maintain a safe and orderly workspace by strictly adhering to all established health and safety protocols. Adapt to shifting daily priorities to ensure we consistently meet our clients' specific needs. Required Skills and Qualifications Prior background in manufacturing or operating sewing machinery is highly advantageous. Demonstrate technical proficiency in threading machines, resolving basic mechanical problems, and applying proper sewing techniques, supported by strong hand-eye coordination. Possess the physical stamina to stand or sit for extended shifts, handle thick or heavy materials, and lift up to 40 lbs in a fast-paced environment. Exhibit a high level of precision to ensure that complex instructions and work orders are followed exactly. Effective communication skills, including the ability to read and write in English.
