The Development Coordinator or Manager plays an active role in both the day-to-day management of development activities and the strategic side of fundraising and relationship building. Key responsibilities include maintaining donor records and systems, conducting research and preparing materials for donor meetings, drafting communications and acknowledgments, and assisting with events and campaigns.Education/Training RequirementsBachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, with experience in database management and donor stewardship, as well as a demonstrated ability to positively represent the organization to external partners.ManagerIn addition to the above,3–5 years of experience in institutional fundraising, donor relations, or development operations. Experience managing foundation or corporate relationships, working with CRM systems, and supporting proposals and reporting.Demonstrated ability to independently represent the organization to external partners and funders.Primary ResponsibilitiesFundraising Coordination and SupportAssist the VP of Advancement in implementing the organization's annual fundraising plan.Schedule and help prepare for donor and partner meetings (e.g., research, briefing notes, materials).Draft and proofread donor communications, thank-you letters, and fundraising materials.Support the creation of proposals, reports, and presentations for donors and foundations.Track donor activity and ensure timely follow-up and acknowledgments.ManagerIn addition to the above,Manage select donor and sponsor relationships independently, including ongoing stewardship and communication.Monitor fundraising progress toward annual goals and provide recommendations to improve donor engagement and campaign performance.Donor Research and Data ManagementConduct background research on prospective donors, corporations, and foundations.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the organization's donor database (CRM).Generate donor lists, giving summaries, and fundraising reports as requested.Help organize and streamline systems for donor stewardship and tracking.ManagerIn addition to the above,Analyze donor trends and giving data to identify opportunities for donor retention, upgrades, and new funding prospects.Develop and maintain reporting dashboards and metrics to support strategic fundraising decisions.Event and Campaign SupportAssist in planning and executing fundraising events, campaigns, and virtual or in-person donor gatherings.Serve as the point of contact for VIP, Steller, and FAM Tours; lead tours as needed.Coordinate logistics, invitations, materials, and follow-up communications.Support online fundraising campaigns, including social media and email outreach.ManagerIn addition to the above,Lead coordination and execution of assigned fundraising campaigns or donor engagement initiatives from planning through evaluation.Assist in managing event budgets, sponsorship fulfillment, and post-event reporting.Internal CollaborationWork closely with the VP of Advancement to align fundraising activities with communications and program work.Liaise with staff and partners to gather information needed for proposals and reports.Provide administrative support related to development and external relations.Fosters good relations with visitors, volunteers, community leaders, contractors, and fellow staff members by promoting positive attitudes, good will, cooperation, and providing high standards of service.ManagerIn addition to the above,Represent the Advancement team in cross-departmental planning meetings and contribute to organizational engagement strategies.Assist in developing and documenting fundraising procedures, stewardship standards, and operational best practices.MiscComplies with all Alaska SeaLife Center policies, procedures, and programs.Performs other related duties as assigned.Other Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to develop and maintain dynamic structures to align procedures and tasks with broader strategic vision.Skill in communicating with diverse individuals and presenting financial information to non-financial groups. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently and use independent judgment.Computer experience required including Internet research, word processing and database management. Familiarity with Blackbaud software, Microsoft Office, and Google suite.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
