COLE501: Program Instructors Mentoring program Advisor

All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K-12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.This is a pro-bono volunteer position.JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.The Program Instructors Mentoring program Advisor, provides subject matter expertise to the program lead in topics of resume writing, linkedin profile development, interview skills and job search strategies.Implement a mentoring program for volunteer program instructors that provides support in personal and professional development.Provide additional professional resources to instructor candidates by offering mock interviews for internships, resume reviews and professional advice for life post-graduation.Work with and train recommended mentors to provide mentoring services to participantsRoutinely communicate with instructors to ensure they are fully engaged in the programLiase with mentors on a routine basis to ensure satisfactory delivery of servicesAdditional ResponsibilitiesServe as a Brand Ambassador to expand JerseySTEM’s footprint and build the brandServe as the primary point of contact for candidates and Ensure participants in Federal Work Study are tracking hours appropriatelyBachelor's Degree or equivalentMinimum 2 years of related experienceGenuine concern about/interest in solving the STEM education gender gapStrong leadership/team building skillsResourceful, can-do attitudeExperience with Universities and College campusesOutreach experience preferredExperience leading a function (i.e. team, department manager, etc) and managing others is desirableComfort working in a ‘virtual organization’ with digital tools (G-Suite, Slack, Jira, salesforce)PreferredProven ability to work effectively in a grassroot project and bring clarity to currently obscure projectsProblem-solving and event-planning skillsWould be a plus if candidate has flexible schedule to allow for day time calls with the school admins during the work week
