Project AccountantLocation: Tampa Bay Area, FLWork Arrangement: On-siteSchedule: Full-time | Monday to FridayPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Project Accountant to lead the financial oversight of assigned constructionprojects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, revenue recognition, and financial reporting. This role works closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to support operational performance, maintain financial accuracy, and contribute to overall project profitability.Core ResponsibilitiesMonitor project costs, analyze spending trends, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and marginsSupport budgeting and forecasting processes, including developing project-level financial projections and scenario analysesPerform detailed variance analysis, identifying key drivers and recommending corrective actionsPrepare and present financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc basis to support decision-makingOversee inventory-related activities, including reconciliation and valuation accuracyMaintain and enhance cost accounting systems, tools, and processesEnsure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and contractual requirementsCollaborate with project managers, procurement, and operations teams to ensure financial alignment and resolve discrepanciesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline5+ years of progressive accounting experience within project-based environments (construction, engineering, or similar industries preferred)Strong understanding of job cost accounting and percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition methodologiesExperience working with ERP systems (e.g., Sage or similar platforms)Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and financial modelingCPA certification or progress toward certification is considered a plusKey CompetenciesStrong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial dataHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentEffective communication and stakeholder management skillsBusiness-oriented thinking with a focus on driving operational and financial performancePreferred ExperienceBackground in commercial construction, HVAC, or mechanical contracting industriesFamiliarity with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and cost-to-complete analysisKnowledge of AIA billing processes and construction contract structuresttg Talent Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer and recruiting agency.
