Trainer on Duty

The Trainer on Duty (TOD) plays an essential role in assisting members of the JCC through their fitness journeys by offering support and educating on the safe and correct use of cardio and weight training equipment. The TOD is tasked with cultivating a sense of community through positive interactions with members and fostering an environment where members can develop necessary habits to lead to a long-term healthy lifestyle.Minimum Qualifications:The TOD is responsible for supervision in Fitness Centers which includes:Interacting with members and staff to build lasting relationshipsDemonstrating and enforcing effective cleaning of equipmentExplaining the proper use of all equipment available and exercise techniqueDevelop engaging appropriate activities for members to improve engagementPromoting personal training and other JCC services where applicableAlong with other Trainers, you'll be responsible for providing a fun, engaging, enriching and safe environment for our JCC membersEnsuring members leave promptly at the end of reservations and stick to assigned locationsOther Duties & ResponsibilitiesConduct Start Strong workouts while on Duty as assignedTOD circulates and assists members in using safe and effective exercise form during their workoutsMaintain a clean, safe and orderly fitness floor, racking weights, wiping machines, stocking etc.Report malfunctioning equipment, learn how to troubleshootEnforce current policies such as PPE usage, cell phone use, no open toed shoes, no bags, etc.Attend fitness department and fitness training meetings - includes answering emails in a timely fashionMust attend continuing education classes to keep certifications currentTroubleshoot issues and refer to supervisor when necessaryStreamline communication between members and managementPosition RequirementsCurrent Nationally recognized and NCCA accredited certification in fitness or personal trainingCurrent CPR/First Aid CertifiedRequires ability to lift up to 50lbs and capability of standing for long periodsNot training at another facility within 20minutes of the JCCOTPAble to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentDESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Educational background in Health and Physical FitnessCollege degree or Continuing Education preferredExperience at a previous health club experience is a plusBenefits All JCC team members receive:Complimentary membershipTeam member discountsClub Connect membershipOpportunities for advancement based on performance and certifications acquiredCOMPENSATION: $18/HourTo apply, please send your resume and cover letter to Bonnie Patrick-Mattalian bmattalian@jccotp.orgIt is the policy of this institution to provide equal employment opportunity to all employees andapplicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, maritalstatus, national origin, age, handicap, veteran status or status within any other protected group.
