Backend Developer (Java / Quarkus) – Warehouse & Fulfillment SystemsLocation: Remote (EU candidates only considered)Remote: Occasional travel to Sweden Rate: €500 - €600 per day B2BAbout the RoleWe're looking for a Backend Developer to join a team building systems that manage warehouse and store operations for a fulfillment-focused business. You'll work on the core services that track warehouses, stores, products, and locations — including the logic behind warehouse lifecycle events such as replacements, archiving, and history tracking. This role suits someone comfortable owning backend services end-to-end and who can also engage with the commercial side of the business — cost tracking, budgeting, and operational efficiency.What You'll DoDesign, build, and maintain backend services using Java and QuarkusDevelop and maintain core domain entities (Locations, Stores, Warehouses, Products) and their relationshipsImplement business-critical workflows, such as warehouse replacement logic that preserves historical cost and operational dataWork closely with product and finance stakeholders to translate business requirements (cost allocation, budgeting, forecasting) into technical solutionsContribute to integrations between operational systems and financial/reporting toolsWrite clean, tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviewsTake part in technical and business discussions, helping bridge the gap between engineering decisions and commercial outcomes.What We're Looking ForStrong hands-on experience with Java (Quarkus experience strongly preferred; Spring Boot experience also considered)Solid understanding of REST API design and microservices architectureExperience with relational databases and data modelling for business-critical systemsComfortable working with CRUD-based systems that also involve non-trivial state/lifecycle logic (e.g. archiving, versioning, historical tracking)Ability to reason about business context — cost allocation, budgeting, forecasting — not just write code to aspecGood communication skills; comfortable discussing trade-offs with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersPrior experience in logistics, fulfillment, retail, or supply chain systems is a plus but not essentialNice to HaveExperience integrating systems with financial/accounting platformsFamiliarity with real-time data synchronization patternsExposure to cost control or budgeting tools in a previous role
