Associate Director, Statistics (Hybrid) 📍 Boston, MA (Hybrid) 💰 Estimated Salary: $120,000 – $144,000 per yearAbout the Role We’re looking for an accomplished Associate Director of Statistics to lead statistical strategy and delivery for global clinical programs. This role combines scientific expertise, leadership, and collaboration to ensure the design, analysis, and interpretation of clinical studies meet the highest scientific and regulatory standards. You’ll play a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making and advancing innovative, patient-focused therapies.Key ResponsibilitiesLead statistical strategy and delivery for one or more global development programs or therapeutic areas.Partner cross-functionally with project teams, data science, programming, and clinical development functions to ensure seamless execution of statistical deliverables.Design, analyze, and interpret clinical trials using advanced statistical methods and tools.Oversee risk identification and mitigation strategies at the program level.Drive continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, innovation, and data quality.Provide statistical leadership and mentorship to team members and stakeholders.Represent the statistics function in global project teams, regulatory discussions, and strategic initiatives.Collaborate with vendors to ensure quality and compliance in outsourced statistical work.QualificationsPhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related quantitative discipline with ~5 years of experience, or MS with ~8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech research.Advanced understanding of clinical study design, data analysis, and statistical programming.Strong knowledge of FDA, ICH, and global regulatory guidelines related to clinical trials.Proficiency in statistical programming (e.g., SAS, R).Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Experience across multiple therapeutic areas or development phases preferred.Leadership & ImpactProvide mentorship and guidance to junior statisticians.Foster collaboration across quantitative sciences, R&D, and external partners.Act as a subject-matter expert and thought leader on innovative statistical methodologies.Contribute to the evolution of data and quantitative sciences through creativity, rigor, and scientific excellence.Ideal Candidate You combine deep statistical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills.
