We are a people-powered enterprise; our campaigns are effective because we hire diverse teams of talented people, invest in our staff, and treat them well.We are hiring a Deputy Canvass Director to manage our office in Seattle, WA The Canvass Director will recruit, train, and manage a team of local canvassers to have quality, in-depth conversations with local residents about committing to support clean energy projects. Directors will work within their team to build an office to scale from the ground up. All directors are expected to train staff in the field while leading by example themselves; they must also communicate long and short term goals to staff and manage campaign reporting. The Deputy Canvass Director will work in tandem with a local field organizer and manage canvassing staff and Team Leads and report to the Canvass Director.Seattle needs you. We are canvassing in King and Kitsap Counties to build community support for local clean energy storage projects that keep the lights on, lower energy costs, and help Washington meet its clean energy goals. Strong preference for local and in-state candidates.Canvass Management ResponsibilitiesManage a team of 10-15 hourly staff who will be canvassing door-to-door to garner support and recruit volunteers for local clean energy projectsSet goals and hold staff accountableTrain and provide ongoing motivation and support to staffIdentify, promote, and train a leadership teamBuild a diverse team where staff feel respected, while fostering a culture of equity and justiceImplement quality control measures to ensure integrity of the workGo in the field yourself a few days per week to canvass, train staff, and help drive office goalsMaintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff Develop strategic plans to reach registered voters in assigned locationsManage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials QualificationsMust haveLeadership experience, ability to motivate a large teamEagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week.Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others.Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement.Track record of equity and inclusion.Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends.Nice-to-haveExperience running paid canvasses or managing paid employeesExperience with deep canvassingExperience working in underserved or marginalized communitiesFacilitation experienceLocal knowledge/experienceSalary: The salary for this position is $1,542 per week. We offer a generous benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and hands-on training.
