Background and Project Overview
Women, Peace, & Security (WPS) is an international, U.S. national, and Department of Defense (DOD) agenda, law, and policy focused on improving women’s meaningful participation in peace and security processes and institutions, and ensuring the safety, security, and human rights of women and girls particularly in the context of conflict and crisis. NORAD & USNORTHCOM (N&NC) has an established WPS team and program led by a Command Gender Advisor. Under the auspices of WPS, N&NC has awarded Q2 Impact a WPS initiative with multiple components focused on different dimensions, including research, analysis, training design, knowledge management, network mobilization, and security cooperation activities with country partners in the North American region. The primary purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive administrative, organizational, research, data analysis and program management support to execute, advance, grow, adapt and capture impacts of N&NC’s WPS initiative internally and with a range of partners. The position will work in support of, and be supported by, a WPS team located on-site in Colorado Springs and remote Q2 locations in support of N&NC Gender Advisor. The program is largely located on-site in Colorado Springs with some possibility to telework.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
Perform project support activities including research, data analysis and visualization, and reporting to support the advance of N&NC WPS objectives, program lines of effort, planning, and operations.
Under the supervision of the Q2 Impact WPS lead, design and implement research that generates evidence for decision-making and evidence-based design.
Utilize software and online tools (as appropriate) to create questionnaires, capture and quantify data, create spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations, to inform N&NC decision -making.
Research, collate and adapt training tools, data sources, best practices, existing and new research efforts related to WPS principles and practices and the N&NC mission areas including domestic security, support to civil authorities in disaster response, and security cooperation.
Develop and support initiatives to advance WPS in N&NC mission sets and areas of responsibility within the Northern Hemisphere.
Gather, adapt, and apply Q2 tools, technological approaches and innovations from other global programs to the N&NC WPS mission set.
Support communication and coordination within and across N&NC and the DOD network.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience with WPS, federal government, the Department of Defense. Relevant internships and volunteer activities will be considered.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and coordinate effectively, and to work flexibly in a dynamic work environment and organization.
Excellent research, writing and presentation skills including use of PowerPoint and collaboration software and applications.
Must possess effective time management skills, coordinating numerous simultaneous events.
Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; proficient in other aspects of MS Office
Proximity and availability to work on site in Colorado Springs.
Ability to secure a Secret level security clearance, active Secret clearance preferred.
