Registered Nurse - Circulator and Perioperative

Operating Room Circulating Registered NurseThe OR Circulating Registered Nurse monitors the procedures in the operating room during surgery and assists as an intermediary between the physicians and operating room staff members.Prepares patients for surgical procedures and handles the preparation for the operating room before the surgeryWorks side by side with scrub nurses and directly with the surgeon to help maintain the sterile field in the operating roomAssesses the patient's condition and address their needs before and during surgeryWorks with physicians and anesthesiologists to develop a care plan for the patient during surgeryEnsures all sterile fields are not compromised during the procedure by keeping the surgical area clean and organizedRemoves instruments and sponges as they are used during the procedureEnsures patient safety during the procedureKeeps precise documentation throughout the procedureDispenses supplies and medication as neededHandles specimens and special apparatusAdheres to all Round Rock Surgery Center policies and proceduresPerforms all other duties as assigned by supervisorDemonstrates regular and predictable attendanceKnowledge and experience in PACU nursing or critical careKnowledge and experience in ASC, operating room or ASC nursing careCompetence in assessing, treating and caring for patients based on age-specific needsAbility to set priorities and provide direction to others that promotes efficiency on the unitAbility to correlate clinical data with patient's medical and nursing careEffective communication and positive interpersonal skillsAbility to maintain patient confidentialityAbility to transcribe physicians orders accurately and read labels and instructions completelyReports directly to the Director of Nursing and AdministratorGraduate of an Accredited School of NursingCurrent licensure to practice in the State of Texas, successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course; ALCS required and PALS preferredTwo years' experience in perioperative nursing preferredWorking Conditions:Medical Office environment, Ambulatory Surgery CenterMust be able to work as scheduled. Good visual acuity and accurate color vision. Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. Ability to push a gurney with a 150-pound patient on it. Ability to stand, walk, stop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape. Ability to lift 25-pound instrument trays. Ability to push heavy equipment on wheels within the OR suite. Ability to wear lead apron.
