About the Client:Our client, a food manufacturing company with facilities in Passaic and Essex County, NJ, is hiring individuals with food industry experience to join its growing warehouse team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where safety, accuracy, and efficiency are top priorities.Role Overview:The Shipping Lead plays a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, directly supporting the Warehouse Supervisor. This position is responsible for leading the warehouse shipping team, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and dispatch of all outbound shipments, and maintaining strict adherence to safety, sanitation, and food safety standards. You are expected to lead by example, actively engaging in dock and freezer operations, fostering a team-oriented environment, and promoting continuous improvement. A key focus of this role is coaching, training, and developing team members while ensuring compliance with all regulatory, operational, and safety procedures.Job Requirements:Personnel LeadershipTrain all shipping personnel in job procedures, safety, inventory handling, GMP compliance, and accurate paperwork completionOrganize staffing and equipment to optimize workflow and productivityParticipate in annual performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as neededProvide feedback on scheduling and shift managementEnsure team members receive designated break and lunch periodsOversee safe and effective operation of equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks)Shipping OperationsMonitor inventory levels and coordinate fulfillment of ordersCommunicate order shortages or discrepancies to the Customer Service teamManage driver check-in/out procedures and assign dock doorsComplete and verify all shipping documents, including Bill of Lading (BOL) and seal issuanceRecord all inventory movements using Batchmaster or similar inventory softwareEnsure Safety Chain documentation is completed for every loadFacility & Equipment MaintenanceMaintain cleanliness and organization of the dock, freezer, and storage areasEnforce sanitation standards in accordance with company and regulatory requirementsEnsure proper storage, charging, and maintenance of all equipmentProvide coverage for Desk Clerk duties during break and lunch periodsFood Safety & Quality AssuranceEnsure strict compliance with food safety protocols, including allergen segregation, proper rotation (FIFO), and temperature monitoringRecord lot numbers for traceability and conduct stock inspections to prevent contamination or infestationEnforce proper receiving procedures and monitor adherence to quality standardsKey Responsibilities:High school diploma or GED required.Minimum 2 years of experience in warehouse, shipping, or logistics operations.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word.Ability to read and write fluently in English.Able to stand, walk, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds throughout the shift.Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience in food manufacturing, supply chain, or operations.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Proven leadership ability with experience coaching or supervising hourly staff.Ability to perform under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines.GRIT Staffing & HR Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and applicants.
