Part-time, hourly position on an as-needed basis

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and some Thursdays (typically 8:30 AM start time)

About the Position
The Admissions Interviewer plays a vital role in the admissions team, working closely and collaboratively with members of the team to assess applicants, primarily by observing and/or facilitating during child visits. Play visits take place in-person and occasionally via Zoom. The Interviewer may also be asked to support admissions events, interview prospective parents, and conduct tours for prospective families. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator who works well in a team, has a strong understanding of child development and progressive education, and demonstrates a commitment to creating a school community that is inclusive and reflects our diverse society.
Key Responsibilities
Admissions Assessments
Observe and/or facilitate admissions play group visits for preschool through 1st grade
(children ages 2-6)
Conduct one-on-one assessments for applicants to grades 2-4 (children ages 6-9)
Take detailed observational notes during admissions visits
Visit sending schools to observe candidates as needed
Administrative Support
Prepare and maintain the interview space
Update candidate records and spreadsheets in a timely manner
Additional Admissions Support
Support admissions events as needed
Interview prospective parents as requested
Conduct tours for prospective families
Assist with additional responsibilities as needed and at the discretion of the Director of Admissions
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree
3+ years of experience working with children in early childhood and elementary settings
Deep understanding of progressive education
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent observational and note-taking skills
Personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion work
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Preferred
Master's degree in Education or a related field
Special education training or experience with diverse learners
Prior experience in admissions or enrollment management
Familiarity with Bank Street's progressive, child-centered approach to education
