The ETL Developer will support the organization's transition from SQL Server–based data infrastructure to Snowflake. While the role is formally housed within the Data Governance team to ensure adherence to enterprise data standards, security, and quality practices, the position will be 100% dedicated to supporting the Research, Evaluation, and Analytics (REA) department. This role will design, build, and optimize ELT pipelines and enable high-quality, well-governed analytic datasets to support research, evaluation, reporting, and decision-making across the organization.This position plays a critical role in modernizing the organization's data infrastructure while ensuring data quality, trust, and usability for research and analytics. The work directly supports evidence-based decision-making by enabling timely access to reliable, well-structured data.Key ResponsibilitiesData Migration & ELT DevelopmentDesign, develop, and maintain ELT pipelines to migrate data from SQL Server to SnowflakeRefactor and modernize existing SQL Server–based processes for Snowflake architecture and performanceImplement efficient data loading, transformation, and validation processes using Snowflake-native capabilitiesOptimize queries, storage, and compute usage for cost and performanceData Governance & QualityPartner with the Data Governance team to ensure ELT processes align with data standards, definitions, and quality rulesImplement data validation, auditing, and reconciliation checks during migrationSupport metadata documentation, data lineage, and transparency for analytical datasetsEnsure compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirementsResearch, Evaluation, and Analytics SupportWork closely with REA analysts, researchers, and evaluators to understand data needs and analytic workflowsTranslate research and reporting requirements into scalable ELT solutionsSupport development of clean, analysis-ready datasets optimized for statistical analysis and reporting toolsTroubleshoot data issues impacting analytics, dashboards, and research outputsCollaboration & Knowledge TransferCollaborate with data engineers, analysts, and governance partners across teamsDocument ELT processes, migration decisions, and best practicesSupport knowledge transfer to internal staff to ensure sustainability beyond the contract periodQualificationsProven experience building ELT/ETL pipelines in a production environmentStrong SQL expertise, including advanced querying and performance optimizationHands-on experience with Snowflake (data modeling, loading, transformations, and performance tuning)Experience migrating data from SQL Server or similar relational databases to cloud data platformsFamiliarity with data quality, governance, and documentation practicesAbility to translate business or research requirements into technical data solutionsStrong collaboration and communication skills, especially with non-technical stakeholdersPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting research, evaluation, or analytics teamsFamiliarity with data modeling approaches for analytics (e.g., dimensional models, flat analytic tables)Experience with ELT orchestration and transformation tools (e.g., dbt, Azure Data Factory, Airflow, or similar)Experience working in regulated or privacy-sensitive data environmentsPrior work in matrixed roles supporting both governance and analytics functionsBenefitsRetirement Plan (401k, IRA)Health Care PlanEqual Employment OpportunityThe Company is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.Employment DisclaimerThis job description is not intended to create an employment contract.
