Engineering Manager

As the Engineering Manager, you are skilled in agile methodologies and will be responsible for running the software engineering cycle, running scrums, aligning strategy to technical operations, and - most of all- be a major project manager to deliver exceptional products on a timely schedule from the point of gaining roadmaps and requirements from the Product and Architecture teams to a completed high-quality, timely software product. By working with other Senior Leadership you will manage the software development teams (Development, QA, and Docs) of FairCom’s products. Finally, you will lead and manage an experienced team of engineers and work closely with the Architect & Product teams to ensure communication is clear and effective with the goal of departmental alignment and success. The Day-to-Day: Guide the team seamlessly through every stage of development, instilling standardized processes that showcase top-tier software design, meticulous testing, and the smooth transition of finalized designs into efficient production. Use your knowledge of agile methodologies to coach team members and use JIRA/other technologies to track and report on all activities of the technical teams. Own and maintain the technical Project Management System (currently Jira) to ensure that all expectations are clear, up-to-date, and create a transparent snapshot of the many development projects occurring at FairCom. Collaborate with Product & Engineering teams on backlogs, prioritization, sprint planning, release planning, launch, and post-launch activities. Monitor the progress of the technical product deliverables, assist the different teams with obstacles, and ensure deliverables are staying on schedule. Assess, staff, and organize technology resources to continually meet the company's short and long-term needs. Ensure implementation of security best practices across the entire organization's tech stack. Create clear avenues of reporting and dashboards to share with key Senior Stakeholders in the company, including the Executive team and other Senior Technical Leaders. Collaborate with Product & Engineering teams on backlogs, prioritization, sprint planning, release planning, launch, and post-launch activities. Assess, staff, and organize technology resources to continually meet the company's short and long-term needs. Create clear avenues of reporting and dashboards to share with key Senior Stakeholders in the company, including the Executive team and other Senior Technical Leaders. Must-Have Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience Experience coding in at least one of the following languages: C/C++, Python, Node.js, Java (JDBC), and/or PHP 5+ years working in an Agile development environment 4+ years managing engineering teams Working proficiency in JIRA and Google Office Suite Programs Sound understanding of how DBMS works as it pertains to SQL (relational) and NoSQL (non-relational) data models. Preferred Qualifications A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Design Experience working with IoT / IIoT and Raspberry Pi Strong expertise in Database Technology and has experience being an end-user and/or DBA of a DBMS.
