Pay Range: Targeted salary: $13.50 hourly, based on experienceBenefits Eligible: YesWork Schedule: Friday through Tuesday - 9:15 am to 5:15 pmTravel: Not requiredPosition IntroductionThis position serves as an unarmed, non-commissioned public servant in the areas of Museum security, information dissemination and related security/noncriminal law enforcement.DutiesPerforms patrols of the facility and grounds to identify safety and security problems and acts as a deterrent to theft and vandalismOperates security vehicle or patrols on foot or bicycle in assigned areasMonitors entrance control points and security CCTV cameras'Responds to disasters, fire and emergenciesProvides care and first aidSurveys parking lots, directs traffic and enforces parking and traffic regulationsReports hazardous and suspicious activities to enable corrective action to be initiatedOperates public safety communications equipment including, but not limited to, conventional and cellular telephones, two-way portable radios, hand-held computers and computer workstationsProvides information, service and assistance to the public and/or students, staff and facultyCommunicates and interfaces with university police or other emergency service providers in emergencies and for routine supportProvides escort services for personnel taking cash and checks for deposit to designated locationsWarns violators of rule infractions and enforce site-specific and University policies and procedures: loitering, smoking in unauthorized areas, parking violations, etc.Completes reports, daily checklist, and notify any security related occurrences or incidents to the appropriate supervisor, law enforcement, or medical personnelMakes building security inspections, checking doors and windowsTakes statement and prepares reports on information from individuals regarding crimes, safety violations or accidentsCollects and issues keys and access cards from and to staffMonitors incoming and outgoing deliveries and shipmentsAssists with special events and activitiesPerforms various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.SkillsAbility to give clear and concise answers to questions and give detailed directionsAbility to communicate verbally and in writingStrong attention to detail in order to detect irregularities and change in environmentAbility to observe and monitor surroundings and buildingAbility to enforce policies and procedures while maintaining a courteous, tactful and helpful demeanorKnowledge in protective, security and enforcement practices or the ability to learnAbility to calmly and professionally handle situationsAbility to accurately read and understand written materials and instructionsBasic computer skillsView Full Job DescriptionRequired Education and ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED.Required Certifications And LicensesValid state issued driver's license.Department PreferencesMuseum security experience.Customer Relations skills/experience.Hiring Contingent Upon a Background Check: Yes
