X 5 DaysThe TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.Position Summary/DetailsThis engineering co-op positions will report to an Energy Supply Project Engineer and support projects involving generation expansion, major maintenance, and capital improvements at power generating facilities. This position is a part of the engineering team for the Strategic Project department.AccountabilitiesSupport Engineers with improvements to design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the assigned systems and equipment as requested.Provide technical support to plant personnel in terms of design, maintenance, repair, and operation of the assigned equipment.Perform walkdowns and field engineering activities to support design and construction efforts.Provide support with drawing/document updates.Physical Location of Co-op: Polk Power StationWorking Conditions Combination of Plant/Field and Office environment. Must be willing and able to work in dusty, hot, and noisy environments.Preferred Availability: Full-time (40 hours) Monday – Friday typically within a 7:00AM – 6:00PM schedule.QualificationsEducation:The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.Co-Op RequirementsTo qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
