Structural Fitter/ Shipfitter

*Job Summary* We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Fitter/Shipfitter to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and welding metal components with precision and adherence to technical drawings and blueprints. Your expertise will contribute to the construction and repair of large-scale structures, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency throughout every project. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex fabrication projects in a fast-paced environment, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and welding skills to deliver exceptional results. *Duties* * Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to accurately guide assembly and welding processes. * Measure, mark, cut, and fit sheet metal and structural components using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise dimensions. * Perform welding operations including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. * Use power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment for cutting, shaping, drilling, and assembling metal materials. * Fabricate structural parts by welding and fitting metal components together with accuracy while adhering to safety protocols at all times. * Conduct quality inspections of fabricated parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications. * Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety procedures related to construction site operations, welding hazards, and equipment handling. * Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks such as ductwork installation, mechanical fabrication, or shipbuilding components in accordance with project timelines. *Experience* * Proven construction site experience working on large-scale fabrication or shipbuilding projects. * Hands-on experience with metal fabrication including sheet metal work and structural assembly. * Skilled in interpreting mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately. * Demonstrated proficiency in welding techniques such as FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW using AWS standards. * Familiarity with the use of measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise fabrication tasks. * Experience operating power tools, plasma cutters, machining equipment, and hand tools safely within a manufacturing or construction environment. * Knowledge of safety protocols relevant to construction sites involving welding operations and heavy machinery use.
