Composite TechnicianR&P Technologies is looking for an experienced Composite Technician to fill a full-time position undertaking a variety of tasks relating to installing, repairing, and troubleshooting composite lamination and lay up onboard US Navy ships in Pascagoula, MS.We support several different ship classes and types at various Navy installations around the United States coastal areas. Due to the high amount of risk pertaining to this job, technicians must be first and foremost responsible individuals with great attention to safety precautions.ResponsibilitiesUndergo composite certification and qualification trainingAs part of a small team, execute composite / installation trade repairs and modifications to shipboard composite structuresEnsure work being performed complies with applicable installation procedures and practicesEnsure all required documentation is completed and retained in the project QA bookReport daily progress updates to your supervisor or leadAdhere to all safety precautions associated with composite material handling and use and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations when handling, transporting and disposing of composite material and hazardous material/wasteAdhere to all shipyard, shipboard, and OSHA safety requirementsMaintain quality standards associated with composite repair and installation as prescribed by the Composite Workbooks and Composite Owner's Manual associated with this workKnowing how to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.Familiar with basic computer skillsFamiliar with MS-Office programs including Word and Excel.QualificationsMust be a Composite Technician with a minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement)Composite Owner's Manual familiarity and proficiencyComposite Work Item Workbook familiarity and proficiencyMust be familiar with NAVY Standard ItemsAbility to read, understand and follow customer work item requirements and drawings.Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric drivenMust be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus).Fluency in English (verbal and written)Secret DOD security Clearance preferredShipyard competent person certification a plusExcellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilityExcellent physical condition with the ability to lift 50 pounds on your ownWillingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilitiesFlexibility with regards to scheduling and planned support due to constant Navy movementThorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelinesAbility to obtain and maintain Navy DBIDS security credentialsEEO StatementR&P Technologies provides equal opportunity for all persons and prohibits discrimination in employment because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability (including pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions), veteran or marital status, or any other factor prohibited by law.
