DescriptionJob Title: Registered Nurse (RN)Department: ClinicalReports to: Medical DirectorJob SummaryThe Registered Nurse performs a wide variety of job duties during their shifts, caring for and educating patients about their conditions, as well as establishing trust and building rapport with patients. The RN is responsible for being part of the Medical team as well as helping to facilitate the flow of the Medical Department and Medication Administration Program.Education And ExperienceValid RN license, in good standing, in this State (unless in State with Nursing Licensure Compact)Minimum 1 year of experience in the field of chemical dependency/substance abuse/psychiatric setting or human services fieldComplete TB testing upon being hiredComplete and be within the requirements of Background and Drug screening resultsComplete training or certifications in CPR, HIPAA, HIV/AIDS, Verbal De-Escalation, Harassment/Discrimination, Incident Reporting, Infection/STD Risks, HEP B/C, and Abuse, Neglect, Trauma, and Exploitation, Understanding SUD, and any other trainings required by the State or the Joint Commission.Duties/ResponsibilitiesAbility to administer prescribed medication and medical treatments and following standard nursing proceduresAbility to assess and monitor physical and/or mental conditions of patients/clientsAbility to maintain effective communication with patients, families, and members of the health care staffAbility to provide documentation, prepare reports and maintain patient/client records, including computer skills necessary for documentationReports symptoms, reactions and progress of patient to the clinical supervisor and/or charge nurse and appropriate action has been takenInitiates changes to improve patient care; discusses changes with doctor when appropriate Ability to participate in defining, interpreting, and implementing standards, policies, and procedures which affect the delivery of nursing care servicesAbility to participate in regular in-services/trainingPerforms all other duties as assignedRequirementsRequired Skills/Abilities:Ability to work as a team member and have communication, organizational and interpersonal skillsAbility to work under stressful conditions and be flexible in relation to department needsKnowledge of DCF and TJC standards within the DepartmentAdhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal and written Communication SkillsKnowledge of State and Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality LawsAbility to understand and abide by the Drug Free Workplace PoliciesAbility to complete the Harassment and Discrimination trainingKnowledge of Corporate Integrity and Compliance ProgramKnowledge of current technology (KIPU)Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder. Can score above a 70% on the SUD TrainingKnowledge of COWS/CIWA.
