Job Summary
The Technical Operator reports to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for the efficient running of specialist equipment in order to produce product at correct quality standards in line with the scheduled production plan. They will also be responsible for overall functionality and maintenance of specialist equipment whilst coordinating with the maintenance team. Trains, coaches and develops the skill level of each team member and has the responsibility of assigning tasks to team members according to the operational specifications. Enforces safety rules, procedures, Food Safety and GMPs. Responsible for informing management of any observation or finding that could impact the safety and quality of company products. Works closely with support staff such as QA Technicians, Sanitation, Maintenance Engineering, Warehouse and Supply Chain to resolve issues.
TECHNICAL OPERATOR I
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:
Operates Bean Cooker or Grunwald. Position is not available for other machinery.
Set up area, ensuring the machinery and accompanying equipment is set up in accordance with machine specifications, carrying out safety checks and audits in line with procedures.
Organize and coordinate the allocation of tasks to staff within the area. Ensure that breaks are coordinated effectively to achieve continuous running.
Ensure that the machinery maintains optimum performance and resolve issues with machinery/settings in line with guidelines, escalating to a manager or engineer if unable to rectify.
Monitor, assess and record production performance hourly to ensure operating to optimum efficiency. Identify and implement corrective actions. Attend meetings to report on performance escalating any issues to a manager and reporting to the team.
Check that all CCP checks, Process Control and all other production paperwork has been completed accurately, in accordance with procedure and within specified time frames, countersigning to verify correct.
Ensure efficient use of materials and packaging. Identify potential improvement opportunities and assist with the implementation of such improvements with guidance from your manager.
To carry out baseline planned preventative maintenance and asset care requirements in line with schedule.
When required, dis-assemble equipment to enable Sanitation to carry out cleaning duties and reassemble equipment once cleaned.
Lead & Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Root Cause Analysis activities to identify and act on corrective actions to prevent repeat failures
Work in liaison with your Line Manager and other departments as required, providing support and assistance where possible to ensure the smooth execution of both day-to-day maintenance tasks and shutdown work
Ensure that the area is maintained to 5S, Health & Safety and Hygiene standards at all times
When required complete CIP’s procedures according to the SSOP.
Performs job tasks in adherence to safety instructions and rules.
Reports all issues and problems to Team Lead or Supervisor.
Follows all safety procedures and participate in safety training, including stretching and hand exercises.
Reports any injury or accident or unsafe condition immediately to a supervisor.
Performs area housekeeping as required.
Performs only job functions that they have been trained on and fully understand.
Is punctual, on time, and adheres to company attendance policies. Regular Attendance is an essential job function.
May perform other duties as assigned and may be moved between production lines and areas and asked to perform other assignments as needed.
TECHNICAL OPERATOR II
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, additional to Technical Operator I essential duties and responsibilities, include the following, but are not limited to include one or more of the following:
Employee in this position consistently leads 5 or more employees and can cover for other Line Leads in department.
Adheres to the company conformance statement, job summary, competencies and essential duties and functions of Line Leads.
Oversees and backs up all equipment in an entire department (3 or more machines, including the Grunwald or Bean Cooker).
