The position involves designing, developing, and maintaining software systems that support Air Force missions, including requirements analysis, architecture design, coding, and unit testing. The role includes participating in code reviews, implementing secure and reliable solutions, debugging and resolving issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as systems engineers, testers, and operations personnel. Daily work may also include writing technical documentation, supporting integration and deployment activities, and contributing to process improvement initiatives and best practices in software engineering. The individual in this role is expected to work in a structured environment that values accountability, collaboration, and adherence to security and quality standards.QualificationsMust be a US CitizenStrong foundation in software engineering or computer science, including experience with programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python), data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.Experience with full software development lifecycle activities such as requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, integration, and maintenance.Familiarity with modern development practices, including version control systems (e.g., Git), continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and agile or iterative methodologies.Understanding of secure coding practices, system reliability, and performance considerations; ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize software in a production or mission-critical environment.Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicate clearly in written and verbal form, and produce accurate technical documentation.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., security or cloud) are beneficial.Eligibility to work with sensitive or classified information in a defense environment; prior experience with government or military systems is a plus.Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
