Data Engineer - Junior
Overview
In this junior Data Engineer role, you will help design, build, and sustain data pipelines and basic data infrastructure to enable analytics and AI/ML for CD&I. You will ingest, transform, and prepare data from USMC/DoD systems for analysts and data scientists, collaborating with senior engineers to meet data requirements. You’ll contribute to data flow documentation, data quality checks, and security controls in line with DoD/USMC policies. This is a hands-on position with impact on capability development and experimentation in a mission-driven environment.

ResponsibilitiesAssist in building and maintaining data pipelines to move and transform data from source systems into analytic data storesImplement basic data quality checks, validation routines, and data cleansing processesSupport integration of structured and semi-structured data sources for capability development and experimentationCollaborate with senior data engineers and analysts to translate data requirements into tasksDocument data flows, schemas, and data dictionariesImplement basic data security and access controls per DoD/USMC policiesTroubleshoot data pipeline issues and support operations and maintenance activities
Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or related field0–3 years of experience in data engineering or related technical roleBasic experience with SQL and at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python)Familiarity with relational databases (tables, views, indices, joins)Ability to work in a team and follow established engineering standardsActive TS/SCI ClearanceDesired: Experience supporting DoD/USMC or other Federal customersteam collaborationadherence to standardsproblem-solvingSQLPython (or other scripting language)data pipelines
