Join us and be a part of the diverse Caltech community.Job SummaryThe data science engineer will work closely with the PI and his research group to develop computational and data-driven methods supporting research in algebraic geometry, computational algebra, and related areas of mathematics and scientific computing. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and implementation of algorithms, symbolic computation systems, data processing pipelines, and machine learning.Essential Job DutiesDevelop computational and data-driven methods supporting research in algebraic geometry, computational algebra, and related areas of mathematics and scientific computingContribute to the design and implementation of algorithms, symbolic computation systems, data processing pipelines, and machine learningPerform other related duties as assigned Basic QualificationsBackground in Computer Science, Statistics, or MathematicsStrong programming skills in Python and RBackground in algebraic geometry, computational algebra, and symbolic computationExperience with algorithm development and research Preferred QualificationsStrong programming skills in SQL and PyTorchFamiliarity with cloud computing, high-performance computing platforms and distributed computing environmentsFamiliarity with containerization and orchestration technologiesExperience building, deploying, and maintaining data pipelines, analytical workflows, and machine learning systems in production or research environmentsExperience with version control, testing, and software engineering best practices Required DocumentsResume Hiring Range $40.50 - $64.00 per hourThe salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.As one of the largest employers in Pasadena, CA, Caltech is committed to providing comprehensive benefits to eligible employees and their eligible dependents.
