Double Stack Logistics https://www.double-stack.com/ Job Summary The General Manager reports directly to the President and will provide strategic and operational leadership across the organization, overseeing daily operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring cross-functional alignment between departments. This individual must bring a strong background in transportation and logistics operations, strategic market evaluation, and team leadership, with the ability to balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution. The ideal candidate is highly organized, an effective communicator, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. Duties/Responsibilities Operations Leadership Oversee daily operations across all departments to ensure efficiency, productivity, and adherence to company standards. Serve as the central point of coordination across departments, aligning operational strategies with organizational objectives. Develop and implement process improvements across all Customers. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and best practices among team members. Conduct training and mentor staff, improving team performance and adherence to safety protocols and compliance standards. Strategic Planning & Business Development Support product and service line development through market research and competitive analysis. Assist in creating strategies aligned with market trends and customer needs to drive growth. Monitor industry developments and changes to identify opportunities for margin growth and new business. Lead or support RFP negotiations and implementations. Develop strategic pricing recommendations informed by market and customer analysis. Carrier, Vendor & Compliance Management Serve as point person for all carrier and vendor vetting as well as TMS enhancements. Coordinate insurance certificates, permits, and compliance documentation. Maintain vendor and carrier files, service contracts, and related documentation. Ensure documentation accuracy within transportation management systems (TMS). Customer Relationship Management Provide exceptional customer service to ensure retention and satisfaction. Work with customers to resolve billing inquiries, service issues, and documentation requests promptly. Monitor customer aging reports and follow up professionally on past-due accounts. Accounting & Administrative Oversight Oversee all AP/AR processes, including invoice processing, check runs/ACH payments, and reconciliation of vendor and credit card statements while building sound SOPs for each process. Assist with payroll processing, budgeting, and expense tracking. Prepare and analyze reports using Excel and company software to support KPI tracking Office Administration Manage daily operations of the corporate office, including supplies, equipment, and vendor service contracts. Coordinate meetings, company events, travel arrangements, and conference logistics. Serve as primary administrative support for management. Required Skills/Abilities Strong background in the transportation/logistics industry (brokerage, intermodal, drayage, trucking) with 5+ years of experience. Proven track record in strategic market evaluation, product/service line strategy, and RFP negotiation & implementation. Experience dealing with Container Yards and private containers. Experience with vendor platforms such as Blume, Highway, MyCarrierPortal, DCLI, Railroad websites. Experience with moving rail-controlled assets with knowledge of moving private containers Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), Salesforce, and analytics platforms. Demonstrated cross-functional leadership and collaborative communication skills. Strong critical-thinking and process-improvement mindset. Experience training, mentoring, and developing staff. Experience supporting accounting functions (AP/AR), Human Resources, and payroll. 5+ years of customer service experience. Preferred Qualifications Hazmat Training Certification. Experience in CDL training/driver education. Experience dealing with railroads. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree 5+ years of related experience in transportation/logistics operations or management. Travel Requirements Less than 10% Passport required Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year Work Location: Remote
