Plus 11 Paid Holidays Per Year!Summer Hours ( Half day Fridays)Student Loan Repayment assistance, up to $1,200 per year!Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits for you and your family!Competitive salaries and benefits including a 401(k)Work Anniversary Trips!Peace leaveParental leaveMileage reimbursementFlexibility Tuition reimbursement Position SummaryThe Family Advocate works alongside the Center for Adolescents and Families staff to implement targeted services that support the family unit, DCFS alumni and other adults in the community in accordance to the Family Advocacy Center's program plan.RESPONSIBILITIES -The Family Advocate will perform the following duties including, but not limited to:Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Programs mission, values, and philosophiesFacilitate Anger Management, Parenting and Financial Literacy classesSchedule and conduct in person intake and assessment sessions with program participantsAssist parents/caregivers to strengthen their family connection and communicationProvide support and guidance to parents/caregivers whose youth are involved with substance abuse and other risky behaviorsCommunity networking and outreach by working with different community agencies. Attend meetings and trainings as required by the organizationWork in conjunction with program and agency staff to create and implement supportive and healthy programs for parents/caregivers and their familiesProvide referral services to familiesAdvocate for the family/families when appropriateMaintain up to date documentation of all activities as required by state and federal guidelinesMaintain program records in accordance to program policies and proceduresSchedule and conduct home visits as required by programTravel within the communities served to deliver programmatic servicesAttend all professional development training requiredMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Human Services required, Master's degree preferredBilingual (English and Spanish) highly preferredMinimum two years’ experience in case management, facilitation, and Youth/Family servicesMust be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word. Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programsExcellent verbal and written communication and customer service skillsDetail oriented, organized and focusedDaily access to reliable car and must meet agency's vehicle insurance requirements (100,000/300,000 bodily liability car insurance)Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, including weekend and evening hoursOther SkillsSensitivity to cultural diversity is required. Enthusiastic self-starterThe ability to engender trust and create reciprocal relationships with DCFS participating agencies and case workers. The ability to complete all necessary recordkeeping, reports, and compliance data for DCFS.
