The Staff Development Engineer will work with our Development and Engineering teams to support the creation of high-quality, efficient solar PV projects. We are not just looking for a culture fit, we are looking for a culture add.  We hope you will consider adding everything that makes you uniquely you to our growing team.Responsibilities ⚙️Evaluate prospective sites and existing PV designs for development suitabilityDesign and optimize solar energy systems, including layout and interconnectionDevelop PV system layouts and electrical design packages at various detail levelsPerform energy production modeling to maximize development valueCreate single-line and three-line diagrams compliant with relevant standardsCoordinate with engineering firms for detailed design packagesLead conceptual project layout design using AutoCAD, GIS or Visio software. Optimize design parameters such as DC:AC ratio and ground coverage ratio (GCR)Analyze available solar resource data and prepare plant-level energy production estimatesConduct site visits to support site constructability evaluation, landowner meetings, and community outreach eventsPerform energy production analysis and financial optimizationManage interconnection applications and utility/ISO communicationsParticipate in stakeholder meetings to support technical discussionsDevelop innovative engineering solutions to overcome development challengesCoordinate with cross-functional teams and external consultantManage relationship with third party engineering firmsInterface with cross-functional project teams up to and through project commercial operationsStay apprised of technology advancements and trends across PV module, inverter, racking and energy storage OEMsSupport the progress of team initiatives, including safety, material/process template improvement, etc.Requirements 🎓2+ years of solar energy system design experience, preferably working with the design of new facilitiesBachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experienceAbility to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a timeExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDesire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with varied interests and backgroundsExcellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skillsProven and influential verbal and written communication skillsProficient with the Microsoft Windows Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and SalesforceSome travel required (up to 25%)Preferred Skills💡Familiarity with solar plant equipment, including PV modules, racking systems, inverters, and electrical balance of plantProficient understanding of statistical analysis and linear regression models concerning meteorological dataNABCEP Certified PV Installation ProfessionalExperience with programs such as PVSyst, System Advisory Model (SAM), AutoCAD, PVcase, ArcGIS, Helioscope, and Aurora Solar is a plusExperience reviewing civil, structural, or electrical engineering design packages is a plusExperience managing third-party due diligence studies and energy production estimatesFamiliarity with concepts such as NPV, IRR, and LCOEFamiliarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, TCP/IP, CANbus, or DNP3Some background knowledge of battery technology*Upon submission, we want to empower you to record your name via the Name Pronunciation tool so that our hiring team can ensure they are pronouncing your name correctly and that you feel properly acknowledged.
