HVAC Lead

Primary Purpose:Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install heating and air conditioning systems and equipment throughout the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all HVAC systems in district facilities.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High School diploma or GEDValid Texas driver's licenseTLDR contractor license or technician certificationMaster license in one of the MEP trades, preferredSpecial Knowledge Skills:Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniquesKnowledge of Chiller / Boiler / Automation / Large Tonnage (Above 50 Tons) systemsAbility to read blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference materialAbility to perform mathematical calculationsAbility to diagnose and resolve problemsAbility to operate hand and power toolsAbility to work independentlyExperience:Five years experience in HVAC fieldMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Maintenance and RepairDiagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of heating and air conditioning systems, including rooftop equipment, central chilled water plants, central heating boiler plants, water pumps, large DX equipment (50 Tons and above).Install new heating and air conditioning systems and components.Relocate and expand existing HVAC systems as needed.Fabricate, assemble, and install duct work and piping according to specifications and code.Repair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.Wire and connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, and humidity controls according to wiring schematics.Maintain freon dispensing records to meet federal requirements.Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coils.Perform duct cleaning and air quality testing as needed.Assist energy manager to complete energy conservation surveys to realize most efficient, cost-effective use of HVAC energy.Schedule event times, and check temperatures and settings on district automation system (Automated Logic & Trane Ensemble)Receive and complete work orders.Select material and hardware and make time estimates.Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment and materials.Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.Detect needed repairs on equipment following established inspection procedures.Respond to emergency calls as needed.Perform other duties as assigned. SafetyOperate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.Help keep vehicle and equipment in safe operating condition.Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.Assist in training new maintenance employees in safe operating procedures as applied to electrical service repairs. Supervisory Responsibility:HVAC AssistantsEquipment Used:Meters, gauges, welding equipment, ladders, hoists, hand and power tools, pipe bender, propane torch, mobile phone, light truck or van.Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures.
