Manufacturing Engineer

Job SummaryThe Assembly Manufacturing Engineer will oversee and optimize manufacturing processes within our Assembly operation. This role involves applying insights from product design, fabrication, tooling, and materials, collaborating with equipment vendors, and gathering feedback from operators. The engineer will be responsible for both manual and automated assembly operations, driving process improvements consistently. A key aspect of this position is a strong commitment to continuous improvement on an annual basis.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNo direct reports. Will be expected to be a mentor to manufacturing engineers and interns working in the Assembly focused factory.Duties/ResponsibilitiesManage medium and large assembly machine projects through full implementation including capital appropriationsAbility to ensure availability and capability of shop floor assembly equipment including automationUnderstand where producibility issues lie, based on data and is able to communicate and lead the cross functional team to solve the most common issues, using processes like six sigma or 8D.Analyze and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow. Designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiencyEstimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisionsCommunicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processesDefining, redefining, and developing workflows based on capacity and efficiency needsCreating assembly tooling designs utilizing Autodesk softwareEvaluates products based on specifications and quality standardsParticipate on multifunctional PFMEA (Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) teams Required Skills/AbilitiesStrong project management skills, including ability to manage several large projects at onceStrong problem-solving skills including the determination of root cause and implementing and controlling solutions.Strong ability to present technical informationStrong conceptual skillsSuperior quality focusStrong technical ability – experience working with automated equipment (Robots, HMI, and PLC controls) is a plusSelf-driven, positive attitude and team player Demonstrates strong communication skills Willingness to learn all aspects described above by way of on-the-job trainingEducation And ExperienceBSME/BSMET required5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience in a high mix/low volume and low mix/high volume manufacturing requiredProcess development, control and improvement experience requiredStrong understanding of GD&T and working in tight tolerances (.0001)3-5 years of practical Kaizen experience preferredPractical Six Sigma experience preferredExperience with controls, including proficiency in ladder logic, structured text, and programming input/output (I/O) is a plusSuperior computer skills, with experience in Autodesk 3-D design software a plusPhysical RequirementsThe characteristics listed below are representative of the physical demands required by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
