Engineer – Design Changes / Standard Design Process (SDP)Location: RemoteCompany: System OnePosition Type: Long-Term ContractPay Rate: Competitive (Based on Experience)Position OverviewSystem One is seeking an experienced Contract Engineer – Design Changes / Standard Design Process (SDP) to support mechanical engineering activities for commercial nuclear power plants. This role is responsible for developing engineering design change packages, supporting power uprate evaluations, resolving technical issues, and ensuring design modifications comply with plant-specific engineering processes and industry standards.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, nuclear plant design modifications, and engineering change management while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting both operating and advanced nuclear facilities.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop engineering design change packages using the Standard Design Process (SDP) and plant-specific engineering procedures.Support engineering evaluations and technical reports for U.S. commercial nuclear power uprates within Balance of Plant (BOP) systems.Resolve technical issues affecting operating nuclear power plants and support engineering activities for advanced reactor technologies.Perform engineering analysis, design evaluations, and system assessments for mechanical systems and plant programs.Apply applicable engineering codes and standards including ASME, ANSI, and industry best practices.Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural engineering.Support engineering activities while maintaining project scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.Lead complex engineering problem-solving efforts and provide technical recommendations.Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance when needed.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.10+ years of engineering experience.Experience supporting commercial nuclear power plants or other power generation facilities.Demonstrated expertise in one or more engineering disciplines.Experience developing engineering design change packages and supporting plant modifications.Knowledge of engineering design processes, plant systems, and applicable engineering codes and standards.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Standard Design Process (SDP) or similar engineering change control programs.Experience supporting Balance of Plant (BOP) systems.Knowledge of U.S. commercial nuclear plant modifications and power uprate projects.Experience supporting advanced reactor technologies.Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, and nuclear industry engineering standards.Previous experience mentoring engineers and leading technical projects.System One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
