Sr Laboratory Technician

Sr. Laboratory Technician (Durham, NC) In office M-F: Conduct RUO preprocessing of DNA/RNA samples for drug development studies, utilizing microtomy, H&E staining and digital scanning. Perform nucleic acid extraction and quality assessment, including quantification and integrity checks. Operate, maintain and calibrate microtome and other laboratory equipment. H.S. diploma or equivalent and 3 years experience as Laboratory Technician. Experience must include, precision sectioning of paraffin-embedded tissue blocks using rotary microtomes; assessment of yield, purity, and integrity of RNA/DNA using spectrophotometry, fluorometry and electrophoretic methods; processing tumor tissue samples for molecular diagnostics, including adherence to chain-of-custody and contamination prevention standards; RNA/DNA isolation from FFPE and fresh tissue, with knowledge of downstream applications such as PCR, qPCR, and NGS library preparation; CAP (College of American Pathologists) and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) requirements for specimen handling, documentation, and assay validation.
